Once upon a time there was a girl disenchanted by mass-produced store bought clothing, so her mother taught her how to sew at a young age and she never stopped. Dahl collections are designed by Alison Dahl Kelly and made-to-order in Manhattan's garment distict with love and care. With a free spirited lady in mind, Dahl collections draw on the romantic eras of times past. Made from vintage-inspired lace, beautifully dyed silks, tulle and repurposed fabrics & trims, our handmade dresses can be styled to suit the individual. Our no-fuss approach to bridal design caters to the bohemian, whether she may don a crown of wildflowers or dress her bridesmaids in mismatched dresses, our timeless silhouettes and whimsical fabrics can be mixed and matched to create the perfect story. A dreamy color palate of ivory, champagne, blush and pastels lend a vintage elegance to Dahl collections. We welcome custom orders and are open to style modifications to better suit your vision.
Alison was a past contestant on Bravo TV's Project Runway season 3. From 2007-2011 Alison moonlighted as Burdastyle.com's editor and creative director, with whom she wrote and was creative director for the popular sewing book The Burdastyle Sewing Handbook. In 2011, Alison celebrated her own marriage which was featured in Brides Magazine, she designed her own bohemian-inspired wedding gown and seven mismatched bridesmaids dresses for the event (the ultimate runway show!). This experience in turn became the catalyst for Dahl... because we all do not fit into the traditonal bridal molds of style and aesthetic, and there seemed to be a void of non-traditional yet still romantic options.
